cruise on the Daintree River with a road tour to find
the 'special', rare and endemic birds and animals of the Wet Tropics.
Day tours are customised to match
guests, with sites
visited based on whether guests are interested in bird photography, seeing as
much as possible or viewing endemic birds. If tides permit a secondary cruise on
the Mossman River may be provided to enable a close look at this mangrove-lined
river and give a second chance at a number of key species.
All road tours are conducted in a comfortable
air-conditioned 4WD with a maximum of four passengers but often just two. Tours
include a
pick up from your accommodation in Port Douglas, Daintree
Village, or Mossman (times below based on Port Douglas pick up). Meals are not included
(you may bring your own or purchase from a Daintree Village cafe).
Half Day Tour
5.30am to 11.30am or 1pm to 7pm
Combines a dawn
or dusk cruise on the Daintree River with a road tour to the best local nature sites of the Daintree
Valley and beaches to see a variety of birds and wildlife. (average 65 species).
Commonly seen
species on this tour include Great-billed Heron, Papuan Frogmouth, Shining
Flycatcher, Saltwater Crocodile, Tree Snake, and several species of kingfisher.
